Finance Processing Officer

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Processing Officer to join its global administrative hub — the Shared Service Center (SSC) — based in Nairobi, Kenya. This is a key operational role responsible for ensuring the accurate, compliant, and timely processing of financial transactions and accounting data that support WHH's country office operations across the globe.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic, mission-driven team working to strengthen financial integrity and service delivery within one of Germany's largest international NGOs. The initial contract is for one year, with strong prospects for renewal based on performance and organisational needs.

• Process accounting transactions accurately based on supporting documentation received through established workflow systems.
• Ensure timely and precise booking of financial documents in accordance with WHH's internal standards.
• Verify that all required supporting documentation is complete and available prior to processing activities.
• Liaise proactively with finance colleagues across WHH Country Offices to resolve processing discrepancies and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items.
• Perform regular account reconciliation activities, including general ledger reviews and balance sheet substantiation.
• Maintain proper and well-organised electronic filing and documentation of all accounting records.
• Adapt effectively within a changing operational environment, integrating new processes and expanded responsibilities as additional functions are progressively consolidated into the Hub.
• Support compliance with WHH's internal controls, standard operating procedures, and audit requirements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and smooth functioning of the Hub by working collaboratively and proactively identifying process improvement opportunities.

• Demonstrate proficiency in end-to-end accounts payable processing, general ledger management, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Apply CPA (K) finalist-level technical knowledge to ensure compliance with accounting standards and donor financial regulations.
• Bring at least 3 years of progressive experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within an international NGO or development organisation.
• Navigate and comply with international donor regulations (e.g., EU, USAID, UN agencies) — prior exposure to donor-funded project accounting is a strong advantage.
• Leverage advanced MS Excel skills to manage financial data, perform reconciliations, and generate reports efficiently.
• Demonstrate audit readiness by maintaining accurate documentation trails and supporting internal or external audit processes.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with multicultural finance teams across different time zones and organisational contexts.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting strict deadlines in a high-volume processing environment.

This position is remunerated according to WHH's Salary Grade 6 (SG6), which is applied consistently regardless of gender.
