Lead Technical Architect

Temenos Group is seeking an accomplished Lead Technical Architect (LTA) — also referred to internally as Solution Architect or Principal Technical Consultant — to join its growing project delivery team. This is a senior, high-impact role responsible for establishing, communicating, and governing the overall architectural and non-functional solution design across one large-scale banking technology project or multiple smaller concurrent engagements.

The Lead Technical Architect serves as the critical bridge between Temenos project teams and client stakeholders, ensuring all technical decisions align with contractual obligations, business requirements, and Reference Architecture principles. You will lead technical teams through complex problem-solving, manage escalations, and champion product excellence across the full project lifecycle — from pre-contract scoping through to go-live.

• Define and communicate the end-to-end architectural and non-functional solution design for client engagements, ensuring alignment with agreed requirements and project plans.
• Act as a trusted architectural advisor to clients, guiding optimal implementation of Temenos products within their infrastructure environments.
• Design viable technical solutions addressing non-functional characteristics including online and COB performance, high availability, disaster recovery, and associated testing strategies.
• Represent Temenos within project and programme Design Authority forums, promoting Reference Architectures, Core Product, and Model Bank best practices.
• Identify, evaluate, and present mitigation strategies for technical risks across all assigned projects.
• Serve as the escalation point for multiple projects, understanding client issues, challenging assumptions where appropriate, and presenting structured resolution plans.
• Collaborate with Development Teams and the Technology Product Group on Reference Architecture and Sizing guidance.
• Work alongside the Project Manager to prevent scope creep, eliminate inconsistent solution designs, and maintain transparency throughout the solution design process.
• Provide expert advisory to clients on Temenos product implementation, ensuring commercial awareness in all client-facing interactions.
• Lead, mentor, and challenge technical teams and clients alike, demonstrating strong stakeholder management at all levels.
• Contribute thought leadership to the Centre of Excellence and drive continuous improvement in product and delivery processes.
• Act as Temenos ambassador throughout the customer engagement lifecycle.

• Demonstrate deep, hands-on expertise in at least one Temenos product area (e.g., Transact, Infinity, Payments) with the ability to articulate the value proposition of multiple others.
• Design and deliver enterprise-grade technical architectures for large financial services or banking technology implementations.
• Lead cross-functional technical teams through complex, multi-stakeholder environments, resolving ambiguity and driving consensus.
• Manage and influence senior client stakeholders, including C-suite and technical leadership, with confidence and commercial acumen.
• Apply knowledge of industry trends, market behaviours, and banking technology landscapes to shape pragmatic architectural decisions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences through written documentation, presentations, and workshops.
• Work effectively in pre-sales and scoping phases, translating business requirements into technically sound and commercially viable solution designs.
• Demonstrate proven experience in non-functional requirements definition including performance benchmarking, high availability design, and disaster recovery planning.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications in enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF, AWS, Azure) are highly advantageous.

Temenos Group offers competitive compensation aligned with the seniority of this role. Based on Kenyan market benchmarks for senior technology architect positions at a global financial technology firm, the estimated monthly gross salary range is KES 400,000 – KES 700,000, commensurate with experience and project scope.
