Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

CURE International is seeking a skilled and mission-driven Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon to join its hospital team in Nakuru, Kenya. • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, review case histories, and consult with family members to determine appropriate surgical interventions.
• Order and interpret clinical laboratory tests and diagnostic findings to inform treatment decisions.
• Prescribe and administer appropriate plastic and reconstructive surgical treatments based on examination findings.
• Develop and oversee individualized preoperative and postoperative care plans, including sedation protocols, dietary instructions, and operative site preparation.
• Perform surgical procedures and coordinate effectively with anesthesiologists and the broader operating room team.
• Manage and treat postoperative complications including surgical shock and postoperative hemorrhage.
• Supervise and direct operating room staff on preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care protocols.
• Train and mentor resident plastic and reconstructive surgeons in surgical techniques and clinical best practices.
• Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely patient documentation and charting.
• Ensure patient safety at all stages — from consultation through surgical intervention to postoperative recovery.
• Collaborate with the Medical Director to maintain adequate inventory of medications and surgical supplies.
• Contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives and participate in hospital-wide educational programs.

• Hold a recognized medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) with postgraduate specialization in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
• Demonstrate at least 2 years of hands-on experience in plastic and reconstructive surgical practice post-qualification.
• Perform complex reconstructive procedures independently and manage surgical complications with confidence and clinical judgment.
• Effectively teach and supervise junior surgeons and residents, translating clinical expertise into structured learning experiences.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments.
• Document patient care accurately in compliance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
• Show commitment to continuous quality improvement within a resource-limited, mission-driven hospital setting.
