SACCO ICT Officer

Co-operative Bank is seeking a skilled and results-driven SACCO ICT Officer to join their team in Nairobi. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this full-time role is central to planning, coordinating, implementing, and continuously improving the SACCO's technology environment. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of secure, reliable, and efficient ICT services that underpin the organization's day-to-day operations and long-term digital transformation agenda.

This is a dual strategic and operational role. You will oversee ICT infrastructure, core banking systems, digital platforms, information security, business continuity arrangements, and end-user support services. Your work will directly enhance member service delivery, safeguard institutional information assets, and drive the SACCO's adoption of modern technology solutions.

• Develop annual ICT work plans, budgets, and activity schedules aligned with the SACCO's strategic plan.
• Participate in formulating, reviewing, and implementing ICT policies, procedures, standards, and controls.
• Provide technical advisory to Management on ICT investments, technology risks, and digital opportunities.
• Prepare and present ICT reports for Management and Board Committees as required.
• Administer and maintain the SACCO's core banking system, databases, servers, networks, and digital platforms.
• Ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of all ICT systems and services.
• Monitor system capacity, utilization, and performance; recommend and implement improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of ICT assets, software licenses, configurations, and system documentation.
• Coordinate system upgrades, patches, updates, and third-party integrations.
• Implement and monitor ICT security controls, policies, and procedures to protect against cyber threats.
• Manage antivirus, endpoint protection, access controls, and patch management processes.
• Monitor and respond to security events, vulnerabilities, and incidents with timely corrective actions.
• Promote information security awareness and best practices among all staff and users.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate ICT risks; maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Ensure compliance with ICT governance frameworks, data protection laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide responsive technical support to end users and resolve ICT incidents within agreed service levels.

• Demonstrate hands-on experience administering core banking systems, preferably within a SACCO or financial institution environment.
• Manage and secure enterprise networks, servers, and databases with minimal supervision.
• Implement cybersecurity frameworks and respond effectively to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain IT policies, ICT governance documentation, and business continuity plans.
• Prepare clear and concise ICT reports for senior management and board-level audiences.
• Coordinate multiple ICT projects simultaneously, delivering on time and within budget.
• Apply knowledge of data protection legislation, including Kenya's Data Protection Act, in a work setting.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Possess relevant professional certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CISM, or equivalent (added advantage).
• Demonstrate a minimum of 3–5 years of progressive ICT experience, preferably in a financial services or cooperative sector environment.

The salary for this position is open and will be competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Based on Kenyan market benchmarks for a mid-to-senior ICT Officer role within the financial services sector, the estimated monthly package falls in the range of KES 120,000 – KES 200,000. Final compensation will be discussed and agreed upon during the selection process.
