Clinical Officer Specialist – Dermatology

Tibu Health is seeking a skilled and conscientious Clinical Officer Specialist in Dermatology to join its growing clinical team in Kenya. This role is central to delivering high-quality, evidence-based outpatient dermatological care across Tibu Health's physical clinic and innovative mobile/home-based health delivery models. The successful candidate will manage a broad spectrum of chronic and acute skin conditions, execute authorized minor surgical and aesthetic procedures, and serve as a trusted clinical resource for patients across all age groups.

A defining feature of this role is the expectation of strict adherence to the legal and ethical framework established by the Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya. The specialist must maintain acute awareness of their clinical scope, escalate complex or high-risk cases appropriately, and collaborate seamlessly with consultant dermatologists and other senior clinicians within Tibu Health's multidisciplinary framework.

• Perform comprehensive dermatological history-taking, physical examinations, and targeted diagnostic assessments for pediatric and adult patients.
• Diagnose and manage chronic and acute dermatological and venereological conditions including severe acne, atopic eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, melasma, and cutaneous infections.
• Formulate personalized, evidence-based treatment plans using approved national clinical guidelines and formulary-compliant topical or systemic medications.
• Execute authorized diagnostic interventions including punch and shave skin biopsies, skin scrapings for mycological analysis, and Wood's lamp evaluations.
• Perform minor surgical procedures such as cryosurgery (liquid nitrogen ablation) for viral warts, skin tags, and benign lesions.
• Conduct specialized aesthetic interventions including microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy), superficial-to-medium chemical peels, and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for hair and skin rejuvenation under established clinical protocols.
• Carry out full-body surface skin mappings and deliver patient education on photoprotection and chronic condition management.
• Strictly refrain from independent deployment of high-risk cosmetic injectables (e.g., Botox®, dermal fillers, biostimulators) unless supervised under a formally signed collaborative framework with a Lead Consultant Dermatologist.
• Escalate suspected malignant or complex atypical lesions such as advanced melanoma or basal cell carcinoma requiring deep surgical margins to a Consultant Dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
• Invoke emergency protocols and immediately escalate sub-surface clinical anomalies, unexpected tissue necrosis, or severe drug eruptions to the Lead Consultant Dermatologist or Medical Director.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with Tibu Health's electronic health records system and COC standards.

• Must hold a Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery from a recognized and accredited institution in Kenya.
• Must hold a valid postgraduate specialist qualification in Dermatology recognized by the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
• Must be fully registered and licensed with the Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
• Must demonstrate the ability to independently diagnose and manage a wide range of dermatological conditions in both adult and pediatric populations.
• Must be competent in performing authorized procedures including skin biopsies, cryosurgery, microneedling, chemical peels, and PRP therapy.
• Must exhibit sound clinical judgment in identifying cases that require escalation and act swiftly within established emergency and referral protocols.
• Must be proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for clinical documentation and patient management.
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to deliver patient-centered education and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience operating within mobile or home-based health delivery models is an added advantage.

Tibu Health offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience, estimated in the range of KES 80,000 – 150,000 per month.
