Information Management Consultant (Nationals Only)

UNICEF Kenya is seeking a highly skilled Information Management Consultant to provide specialized, cross-sectoral technical expertise in designing, refining, and institutionalizing advanced information management and analytical systems. This is a 12-month consultancy based in Nairobi on a hybrid arrangement with occasional travel, and is open to Kenyan nationals only.

The consultant will work across all UNICEF programme and cross-cutting sections and corporate systems, with a sharp focus on strengthening data integration, advancing analytical capacity, and automating scalable tools that enable evidence-based decision-making. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned data and information management professional who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder development environments.

• Design and implement robust data consolidation frameworks that integrate programme, financial, and partner datasets into unified, accessible information systems.
• Conduct rigorous data quality assessments, develop harmonization protocols, and establish data governance standards across UNICEF Kenya's systems.
• Develop and maintain advanced information systems including automated dashboards and analytical tools using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms.
• Perform cross-sectoral data analysis linking programme results, population reach, and financial data to support strategic reporting and resource allocation decisions.
• Generate high-quality analytical reports, data visualizations, and evidence products for internal and external stakeholders including donors and government partners.
• Engage proactively with programme sections, operations, and partner organizations to align data collection and reporting methodologies.
• Lead capacity-strengthening initiatives and knowledge transfer sessions to build internal data literacy and sustainable information management practices within UNICEF Kenya.
• Support corporate system management including Results-Based Management (RBM) frameworks, RAM, eTools, and related platforms.

• Must hold an advanced university degree (Master's level) in Data Science, Statistics, Information Management, Computer Science, Economics, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related field in social sciences or development studies.
• Must demonstrate at least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in information management, data analytics, monitoring and evaluation, or closely related fields.
• Must be able to design and implement end-to-end data integration pipelines, working with heterogeneous data sources including programme, financial, and partner datasets.
• Must be proficient in building interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools — with a portfolio of past work strongly preferred.
• Must demonstrate hands-on experience in cross-sectoral analysis within development or humanitarian contexts, connecting programme results to financial and population-level data.
• Must be capable of handling large, complex datasets — including data cleaning, structuring, and harmonization at scale.
• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken); additional language proficiency is an asset.
• Prior experience with UN agencies, UNICEF, or similar international organizations is highly desirable, particularly familiarity with Results-Based Management (RBM) frameworks and UNICEF corporate systems (RAM, eTools).

UNICEF offers competitive consultancy remuneration aligned with UN salary scales for national consultants at the equivalent P3–P4 level. The exact daily or monthly rate will be communicated during the selection process.
