Junior Associate – Advocate

Our client, a reputable and fast-growing law firm based in Nairobi, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Associate (Advocate) to join its dynamic legal team. • Draft, review, and file litigation documents including pleadings, applications, affidavits, and formal correspondence with accuracy and legal precision.
• Attend court hearings and represent clients professionally, competently, and ethically across various courts and tribunals.
• Draft and review a wide range of legal documents including HR policies, employment instruments, commercial contracts, and service agreements.
• Conduct thorough legal research and translate findings into clear, concise, and actionable legal opinions for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Deliver legal services within agreed timelines while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
• Write legal articles, case commentaries, and thought leadership content to enhance the firm's profile and visibility.
• Develop and facilitate client-facing and internal training materials and sessions on relevant areas of law.
• Prepare timely internal reports, matter status updates, and other legal documentation as required.
• Support billing processes, including accurate time recording, invoice preparation, and follow-up on debt collection.
• Uphold the firm's values, culture, and professional standards in all client and colleague interactions.
• Undertake any other duties assigned in line with the firm's policies and evolving business needs.

• Must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university and be a duly admitted Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
• Must demonstrate at least three (3) years of post-admission experience, with a clear track record in active litigation practice — this is non-negotiable.
• Must be able to independently draft complex litigation documents, contracts, and employment-related instruments with minimal supervision.
• Must demonstrate the ability to conduct comprehensive legal research and communicate findings in plain, practical language to both legal and non-legal audiences.
• Must be able to manage multiple client matters simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
• Must demonstrate working knowledge of employment law and commercial law, with a genuine interest in deepening expertise in these practice areas.
• Must exhibit strong analytical and legal writing skills, with an eye for detail and a commitment to delivering error-free work product.
• Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills — able to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and court officials.
• Must display high ethical standards, professional integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning and development.

The firm offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications. Based on Kenyan legal market benchmarks for a Junior Associate with 3+ years of post-admission experience, the estimated monthly gross salary ranges between KES 80,000 – KES 150,000.
