Junior Associate – Advocate

Our client, a reputable and growing law firm based in Nairobi, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Associate (Advocate) to join their dynamic legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven legal professional with solid litigation experience to contribute meaningfully to the firm's practice areas while advancing their own career in a structured and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality legal services across multiple practice areas — including litigation, employment law, and commercial law — while building strong client relationships and contributing to the firm's thought leadership and growth agenda.

• Draft, review, and file litigation documents including pleadings, applications, motions, and legal correspondence with accuracy and precision.
• Attend court hearings and represent clients professionally and competently before various courts and tribunals.
• Draft and review a range of legal instruments including HR policies and manuals, employment contracts, commercial agreements, and related documents.
• Conduct thorough legal research and prepare clear, concise, and practical legal opinions and memoranda for internal and client use.
• Deliver legal services in a timely, accurate, and professional manner in line with the firm's quality standards and client expectations.
• Write legal articles, client advisories, and thought leadership materials for publication and business development purposes.
• Develop training materials and facilitate both internal staff and client-facing training sessions on legal and compliance topics.
• Prepare internal reports and legal documentation within stipulated timelines and in compliance with firm procedures.
• Support billing, invoicing, and debt collection processes to ensure timely revenue recovery for completed matters.
• Uphold the firm's values, professional standards, and ethical obligations in all assignments and client interactions.
• Undertake any other duties assigned from time to time in accordance with firm policies and guidelines.

• Must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognised university and be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising certificate.
• Must demonstrate a minimum of three (3) years of post-admission experience, with proven, hands-on litigation practice — this is a mandatory requirement.
• Must be able to independently draft pleadings, applications, contracts, and employment-related legal instruments to a high standard.
• Must be capable of conducting in-depth legal research and translating findings into practical, actionable legal advice for clients.
• Must demonstrate strong analytical and legal writing skills, with the ability to produce well-reasoned opinions, articles, and reports.
• Must communicate effectively — both orally and in writing — with clients, colleagues, and judicial officers across different forums.
• Must demonstrate working knowledge of employment law and commercial law, with a genuine interest in deepening expertise in these areas.
• Must be able to manage multiple matters simultaneously, prioritise competing deadlines, and deliver quality work under pressure.
• Must demonstrate high ethical standards, professional integrity, and commitment to continuous learning and development.

The firm offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience. Based on Kenyan legal market benchmarks for advocates with 3–5 years of post-admission experience, the estimated monthly salary range is KES 80,000 – 150,000. Additional benefits typical of a reputable law firm environment may apply. Specific package details will be discussed during the interview process.

Ideal candidates are admitted Advocates of the High Court of Kenya with at least three years of active post-admission experience, a strong litigation track record, and genuine interest in employment and commercial law. You are detail-oriented, self-motivated, client-focused, and eager to grow within a structured firm environment.
