Lecturer – Curriculum Studies

Kenyatta University (KU) invites applications from qualified academic professionals for the position of Lecturer in Curriculum Studies within the School of Education. This is a full-time academic role ideal for a dynamic educator and researcher committed to advancing scholarship in Curriculum Studies, Educational Management, Educational Planning, or the Economics of Education.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, conduct high-impact research, supervise graduate students, and engage in community and institutional service. • Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars in Curriculum Studies and related disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Develop and review course content, study materials, and curricula in line with Commission for University Education (CUE) standards.
• Supervise and mentor postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levels through their research and thesis work.
• Conduct original research and publish findings in peer-reviewed and refereed academic journals to advance the discipline.
• Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees and governance structures.
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research projects, grants, and consultancy initiatives.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through examinations, coursework, and continuous assessment tests.
• Engage in community outreach, professional development activities, and university public service programmes.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the university's academic and strategic plans.

• Demonstrate doctoral-level mastery in Curriculum Studies, Educational Management/Administration/Leadership, Educational Planning, or Economics of Education by holding an earned PhD from an accredited and recognised university.
• Show at least three (3) years of university-level teaching, academic research, or relevant industry experience in education.
• Evidence the ability to produce scholarly output by meeting a minimum of 24 publication points, with at least 16 points derived from refereed journal papers.
• Demonstrate active professional engagement by maintaining current registration with a relevant professional body.
• Apply strong pedagogical skills to design engaging, outcomes-based learning experiences for diverse student populations.
• Communicate complex academic concepts clearly and effectively in written and oral forms to students, peers, and stakeholders.
• Utilise research methodologies — both quantitative and qualitative — to conduct independent and collaborative academic inquiry.
• Supervise graduate research effectively, providing timely, constructive, and academically rigorous feedback to students.

Kenyatta University offers a competitive remuneration package benchmarked against public university salary scales in Kenya. Lecturer positions at KU are graded under the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) framework. Estimated gross monthly salary ranges between KES 100,000 – KES 200,000 depending on qualifications and experience, inclusive of applicable allowances. Additional benefits offered by the university may include medical cover, house allowance, and access to university facilities and research support funds.
