Tutorial Fellow – Educational Management

As a Tutorial Fellow, you will work closely with senior academic staff to deliver quality instruction across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Educational Management, Administration, Leadership, Curriculum Studies, Educational Planning, Economics of Education, Educational Research, Evaluation, and Assessment. This role is ideal for a motivated individual at the early stages of an academic career who is eager to grow into a fully-fledged faculty member.

• Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lectures, tutorials, and seminars in Educational Management and related disciplines.
• Support the supervision and mentoring of undergraduate and postgraduate students in their academic work and research projects.
• Participate in the development and review of course content, learning materials, and assessment tools in line with the university's academic standards.
• Conduct independent research and contribute to departmental research initiatives, publications, and academic conferences.
• Assist senior faculty in marking assignments, examinations, and providing timely, constructive student feedback.
• Actively pursue and complete a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant area of specialization as a condition of continued engagement.
• Participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, and university community service activities.
• Uphold and promote the university's academic integrity, values, and professional standards in all engagements.

• Must hold a Master's degree in Educational Management, Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, Curriculum Studies, Educational Planning, Economics of Education, or Educational Research, Evaluation and Assessment from an accredited and recognized university.
• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited and recognized university as a minimum undergraduate qualification.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate complex academic concepts clearly and effectively to students at various levels of study.
• Must show evidence of or potential for academic research, including the ability to contribute to peer-reviewed publications or scholarly work.
• Must be prepared and committed to enrolling in and completing a PhD programme in the relevant area of specialization — this is a non-negotiable requirement for appointment and career progression.
• Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing academic responsibilities including teaching, research, and student support.
• Prior teaching experience at university level, while not mandatory, will be considered a significant advantage during selection.
• Candidates who are already registered for a PhD in a relevant field will have a distinct added advantage over other applicants.

Kenyatta University offers competitive remuneration in line with the Commission for University Education (CUE) guidelines and the university's internal salary scales for Tutorial Fellows. Estimated monthly gross salary ranges between KES 100,000 and KES 150,000, subject to qualifications and experience. The university also provides a structured career progression pathway from Tutorial Fellow to Lecturer and beyond upon successful completion of a PhD.
