Reporting to and deputising for the Manager, IT, the successful candidate will serve as the organisation's foremost authority on banking systems, bridging the gap between technology and business operations. You will collaborate closely with Finance & Accounts, Credit Operations, Digital Operations, Business Development, and IT teams to translate evolving business requirements into robust, scalable system solutions — driving continuous improvement and building the technical capacity of the Banking Applications team.

- Partner with BIHBV IT teams and strategic service providers to implement, enhance, and support the Temenos core banking system across branch offices while maintaining Model Bank integrity.
- Ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability of all banking system environments including production, development, UAT, and disaster recovery.
- Oversee system configurations, parameterisation, product setups, and integrations aligned to business, financial, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead implementation testing, upgrade validation, and release management to ensure all deployments meet operational and business standards before go-live.
- Manage vendor relationships for banking application support, licencing, and service delivery, holding partners accountable to agreed SLAs.
- Coordinate end-user training programmes and ongoing support initiatives for core banking applications in collaboration with IT and Regional Managers.
- Drive incident management, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex technical issues affecting banking applications, escalating appropriately.
- Ensure IT governance, policies, and procedures are consistently applied across the banking systems landscape.
- Provide strategic oversight of the T24 platform roadmap, including planned upgrades, new product configurations, and system enhancements.
- Mentor and develop the Banking Applications team, fostering technical excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Act as deputy to the Manager, IT on all banking systems and applications matters, ensuring operational continuity during absences.

- Proven ability to manage complex banking system implementations, upgrades, and integrations within a regulated financial services or microfinance environment.
- Able to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical system solutions, working across Finance, Operations, and IT functions.
- Experience managing third-party technology vendors and service partners, including SLA negotiation, performance monitoring, and escalation management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and execute release management, UAT coordination, and change management processes.
- Competent in IT governance frameworks and the application of IT policies, standards, and audit requirements in a banking context.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to diagnosing and resolving complex core banking system issues.
- Experience designing and delivering end-user training programmes for core banking platforms across geographically distributed teams.
- Ability to mentor technical staff and build team capability in banking systems administration and support.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive IT experience with at least 3 years in a core banking systems role; experience in microfinance or NGO-linked financial institutions is an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certifications (e.g. Temenos Certified, ITIL) are an added advantage.
BRAC offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and in line with NGO/INGO sector benchmarks for senior technology roles in Kenya. The estimated monthly gross salary for this position ranges from KES 250,000 to KES 380,000. BRAC is committed to staff welfare and provides a comprehensive benefits package to support its employees.

- Supportive, mission-driven work environment
This role is ideal for a senior IT professional with deep, hands-on Temenos T24 expertise who thrives at the intersection of banking technology and business operations. You are a proactive problem-solver who can operate independently, manage multiple stakeholders, and drive system governance with rigour. You should NOT apply if you have only theoretical knowledge of core banking platforms without practical T24 administration experience, if you lack experience managing IT vendors or service partners, or if you are not comfortable operating in a fast-paced, resource-conscious NGO-linked financial services environment.
- Prepare an updated CV highlighting your Temenos T24 experience, key achievements in banking systems management, and relevant certifications.
- Write a concise cover letter (no more than one page) articulating why you are the right fit for this role and how your experience aligns with BRAC's mission.

- 2
Describe a critical incident affecting core banking operations that you managed. What was the root cause, and what preventive measures did you implement?
- 3
How would you approach translating a new business requirement—say, a new loan product launch—into a T24 configuration that meets regulatory and operational standards?
- 4
Tell us about your experience managing vendor relationships for banking systems. How do you hold service providers accountable to SLAs?

Application Tips
Emphasise your hands-on T24 administration experience: specific modules managed (deposits, loans, GL), parameterisation examples, and go-live deployments you've led—this is non-negotiable.
Highlight incidents you've resolved in production banking environments and the impact of your root cause analysis (e.g., uptime improvements, risk mitigation, SLA compliance).
Showcase your ability to bridge technology and business: examples of translating finance, credit, or regulatory requirements into system configurations, and collaborations with non-IT teams.
If you have microfinance or African banking regulatory experience (CBK requirements, IFRS compliance, etc.), make this explicit—it directly reduces onboarding time.

Green Flags
- Clear, strategic role with explicit ownership of critical systems and authority to shape banking technology roadmap—not a firefighting-only position.
- Structured career progression: deputy manager responsibility shows a defined path to IT management if the candidate performs well.
- Competitive salary range (KES 250k–380k) reflects mid-to-senior manager status and recognises banking systems expertise.
- Emphasis on team mentoring and continuous improvement signals a learning-oriented, growth-focused culture rather than a purely maintenance-driven environment.
Watch Out
- Job description cuts off mid-sentence under 'Proven' in the Required Skills section—full experience requirements are incomplete, making it unclear what all baseline qualifications are expected.
- Reporting line mentions 'deputising for Manager, IT' but doesn't clarify coverage scope, on-call expectations, or whether this includes after-hours responsibility during absences.
- Reference to 'BIHBV IT teams' (likely a parent organisation or sister entity) suggests complex matrix reporting or vendor structure; governance lines should be clarified before accepting.
A Day in the Life
Your week interweaves strategic oversight and hands-on problem-solving: Monday mornings you chair a banking systems governance meeting with Finance, Credit, and IT stakeholders to review a new loan product configuration roadmap. Mid-week, you troubleshoot a critical UAT issue in the T24 GL module with your team and a Temenos vendor, driving root cause analysis and documenting preventive controls. You also conduct a training session for regional branch managers on a system parameter change and review incident logs from the production environment. Afternoons often involve vendor calls on SLA compliance, system upgrade planning, and capacity discussions. You're mentoring a junior systems administrator on product parameterisation, and you're preparing a memo for the Manager, IT on disaster recovery readiness and a planned T24 upgrade.
