Residential Chef

Amicabre Travel Services Limited is seeking a mature, experienced, and highly trustworthy Residential Chef to work within a private residence in Nairobi. This is a full-time, live-in or live-out role that demands professionalism, discretion, and a genuine passion for preparing high-quality meals in a home setting.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a private household environment, understands the nuances of cooking for a family or individual client, and can consistently deliver nutritious, well-presented meals while maintaining the highest standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety.

• Plan and prepare daily meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner for household members according to their preferences and dietary requirements
• Cook a variety of Continental cuisines and adapt menus to suit client tastes and seasonal ingredients
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen at all times in accordance with food safety standards
• Manage grocery shopping lists, track pantry inventory, and coordinate timely restocking of supplies
• Store food correctly to minimise waste and ensure freshness
• Prepare meals for guests or special occasions as required by the household
• Adhere strictly to food hygiene and safety regulations at all times
• Communicate proactively with the household manager or employer regarding menu planning and any kitchen needs
• Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of household members at all times

• Demonstrated experience working as a residential, private, or domestic chef — candidates must be able to provide verifiable references from previous household employers
• Ability to prepare a wide range of Continental dishes with confidence and consistency
• Practical knowledge of food hygiene, safe food handling, and kitchen sanitation — candidates should be able to describe their cleaning routines and food storage practices
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgement in day-to-day kitchen operations
• Strong organisational skills — able to plan weekly menus, manage ingredient quantities, and reduce food waste
• Time management skills that ensure meals are ready punctually as required by the household schedule
• Mature temperament and a trustworthy character — this role requires working in a private home and demands a high level of personal integrity
• Professional Certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Production, or a related field is an added advantage

The offered monthly salary for this role is KSh 20,000 per month, with the posted range being KSh 16,000 – KSh 30,000 depending on experience and negotiation. This is a full-time position based in Nairobi. Additional benefits will be discussed during the interview process.

This opportunity is best suited for a seasoned domestic chef aged 35 years and above who has previously worked in a private residence and can demonstrate reliability, honesty, and professional culinary competence. You should be comfortable working in a home environment, following household routines, and adapting to the specific tastes of the family you serve.
