Risk & Compliance Officer

Nairobi Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Risk & Compliance Officer to join its Risk and Compliance function. This is a full-time role based at the Hospital's Nairobi facility, and the successful candidate will provide technical and operational support in identifying, analysing, and measuring operational risk areas across clinical and administrative departments.

Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, the officer will play a hands-on role in implementing risk mitigation frameworks, conducting process audits, and ensuring that all hospital operations align with established policies, procedures, and internationally compliant healthcare governance standards. • Participate in developing the annual work programme for the Risk and Compliance function and implement approved action plans.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Hospital's operational risk identification and assessment methodologies.
• Conduct operational and process risk analyses across clinical and non-clinical departments in line with Hospital policies and guidelines.
• Identify and measure potential operational risks using aggregate business metrics such as gross revenue, operating costs, managed assets, and off-balance sheet exposures.
• Analyse operational risks including potential losses arising from internal failures or external events such as breakdowns in information systems, communication, physical safeguards, or business continuity.
• Perform regular tests and checks to monitor compliance with operational and process risk standards, and evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems.
• Support investigations into process events and prepare detailed reports identifying root causes and escalating systemic themes to the Head of Risk & Compliance.
• Aggregate and analyse risk events reported by business units across the Hospital.
• Assist in identifying key risk indicators (KRIs) for different departments and formulating action plans to address identified gaps.
• Assist in developing and maintaining operational risk registers for each department.
• Support investigations involving employees suspected of unethical behaviour, fraud, or other illegal activities.
• Develop training materials on operational and process risk and assist in delivering staff training sessions.
• Ensure all assigned tasks are completed to agreed quality standards and within set timelines.

• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field; a relevant Professional Certificate in Risk or Compliance is an added advantage.
• Must demonstrate at least 3 years of hands-on experience conducting operational risk assessments and compliance audits, preferably within a healthcare, financial services, or regulated industry environment.
• Must be able to analyse complex operational data and translate findings into actionable risk mitigation recommendations for senior management.
• Must demonstrate experience developing or maintaining risk registers and key risk indicator frameworks.
• Must be capable of conducting workplace investigations with a high degree of discretion, impartiality, and professionalism.
• Must possess strong report-writing skills and the ability to prepare clear, concise, and evidence-based compliance reports.
• Must demonstrate competence in facilitating staff training sessions on risk-related topics.
• Must exhibit strong knowledge of internal control frameworks and operational risk governance best practices.
• Must be proficient in MS Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting purposes.
