Risk & Compliance Officer

Nairobi Hospital, one of Kenya's premier healthcare institutions, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Risk & Compliance Officer to join its Risk and Compliance function. Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the Hospital's operational integrity by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across clinical and non-clinical departments.

• Participate in developing the annual Risk and Compliance work programme and implement the approved action plan.
• Contribute to the development and upgrading of operational risk identification and assessment methodologies across the Hospital.
• Conduct operational and process risk analyses within clinical areas in line with the Hospital's policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Identify and measure potential operational risks using aggregate business activity measures including gross revenue, operating costs, managed assets, and off-balance sheet exposures.
• Analyse operational risks arising from breakdowns in information systems, communication channels, physical safeguards, and business continuity protocols.
• Perform tests and checks to monitor conformity with operational risk methodologies and evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems.
• Assist in investigations of process events, prepare detailed reports, and identify root causes and systemic themes for escalation.
• Aggregate and analyse risk events reported by business units to inform enterprise-wide risk decisions.
• Support the identification of key risk indicators across departments and help formulate action plans to close identified gaps.
• Assist in developing and maintaining operational risk registers for each department.
• Support investigations into suspected employee misconduct, fraud, unethical behaviour, or illegal activities.
• Develop and deliver training materials on operational and process risk to staff across the Hospital.
• Ensure all tasks are completed to agreed standards within agreed timescales.

• Ability to design and execute operational risk assessments across diverse clinical and administrative environments.
• Demonstrated competency in analysing complex risk data and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
• Experience conducting internal control reviews and compliance audits within a regulated industry.
• Proven ability to investigate incidents, document findings, and communicate root cause analyses to senior stakeholders.
• Competence in building and maintaining risk registers and tracking risk mitigation action plans to closure.
• Strong report-writing skills with the ability to present risk information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience facilitating or contributing to staff training programmes on risk and compliance topics.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in risk management, compliance, internal audit, or a closely related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Economics, Information Technology, Law, Accounting, Finance, or Banking from a recognised university.
• Professional certification such as FRM, RCP Level 3, Chartered Risk Analyst (CRA), or GRCM is a distinct advantage.

Nairobi Hospital offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications. The estimated monthly salary for this role ranges between KES 80,000 and KES 130,000, benchmarked against the Kenyan healthcare and risk management sector. Ideal candidate: You are a mid-level risk or compliance professional with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in operational risk, internal audit, or regulatory compliance — ideally within healthcare, financial services, or a highly regulated sector. You are analytical, methodical, and comfortable engaging with both clinical teams and senior management. You hold a relevant degree and preferably a professional risk certification.
