Senior Driver & Fleet Supervisor

ManPower Services is recruiting a seasoned Senior Driver & Fleet Supervisor on behalf of an educational institution based in Nyeri County. This is a critical operational role that combines hands-on driving responsibilities with strategic oversight of an institutional vehicle fleet. The successful candidate will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of students, staff, and visitors while leading a team of drivers and transport support personnel.

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day transport operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and timely transportation services across the institution.
• Supervise, schedule, and evaluate the performance of drivers and transport support staff, enforcing compliance with institutional policies and road safety regulations.
• Drive school vehicles as required, including 50-seater buses, ensuring the safe carriage of students, staff, and visitors.
• Oversee the maintenance, servicing, inspection, licensing, and insurance of all fleet vehicles to guarantee roadworthiness at all times.
• Monitor and analyse vehicle utilisation, fuel consumption, mileage logs, and operational costs, recommending strategies to reduce waste and improve value for money.
• Ensure all vehicles are equipped with mandatory safety equipment and comply with statutory and institutional safety requirements.
• Conduct regular fleet inspections, investigate accidents and incidents, and implement corrective and preventive safety measures.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on maintenance requirements, replacement schedules, fleet expansion needs, and operational improvements.
• Represent the institution positively during school events, student recruitment activities, and community engagement programmes.
• Foster a departmental culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by management from time to time.

• Minimum 10 years of proven experience driving vehicles of all classes, including heavy buses, within institutional, corporate, or educational environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain a multi-vehicle fleet, including scheduling servicing, tracking documentation, and coordinating insurance renewals.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and performance-manage a team of drivers and transport support staff.
• Competency in monitoring fuel usage and identifying cost-reduction opportunities through data-driven fleet management practices.
• Capable of conducting thorough accident investigations and implementing evidence-based corrective measures.
• Ability to produce clear, accurate monthly fleet performance and maintenance reports for senior management.
• Valid Class ABCE Driving Licence and a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence.
• Motor Vehicle Mechanics Certificate from NYS or a recognised equivalent institution.
• Minimum KCSE education qualification; a Certificate of Good Conduct is mandatory.

The salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, estimated in the range of KES 80,000 – 130,000 per month. Benefits are aligned with institutional policies and may include medical cover and other standard staff entitlements. Specific remuneration details will be confirmed during the selection process.
