Senior Lecturer – Electrical & Electronic Engineering

Zetech University is seeking a dynamic, industry-connected, and student-centred Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to join its growing academic community. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in teaching, mentoring, research, and innovation — contributing to Zetech University's mission of delivering market-driven, high-quality education. You will work within a collaborative environment that values academic rigour, technological relevance, and real-world impact, ensuring all activities align with the Commission for University Education (CUE) and the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) standards.

• Teach Electrical and Electronic Engineering units as allocated by the Head of Department, delivering high-quality, engaging, and outcome-focused lectures.
• Design, develop, plan, and deliver a range of study programmes, including entirely new courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Regularly review and update course content and materials to reflect current industry trends and technological advancements.
• Collaborate with academic colleagues on curriculum development, course innovation, and the advancement of research activities.
• Conduct original research and prepare competitive research grant proposals to attract external funding.
• Seek and participate in industry consultancies to strengthen academia-industry linkages.
• Present research findings at national and international conferences, seminars, and academic events.
• Supervise postgraduate students through to successful completion of their research programmes.
• Provide mentorship, academic guidance, and career development support to students and junior staff.
• Disseminate research outputs through peer-reviewed publications, journals, and institutional platforms.
• Ensure all academic activities comply with CUE standards and EBK professional requirements.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of departmental and institutional objectives.

• Must hold a minimum of a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a closely related field from a recognised and accredited university, alongside a relevant Master's and Bachelor's degree.
• Must demonstrate at least 3 years of university-level teaching or research experience in the capacity of Lecturer or Research Fellow.
• Must present evidence of peer-reviewed publications consistent with the rank of Lecturer or Research Fellow.
• Must demonstrate leadership and administrative capability, ideally through experience as a Head of Department, Programme Leader, Postgraduate Coordinator, or equivalent management role.
• Must have successfully supervised a minimum of two (2) postgraduate students to completion.
• Must show a track record of attracting research funds or grants from credible funding bodies.
• Must demonstrate active participation in academic conferences, seminars, and professional workshops.
• Must apply a forward-thinking, technology-driven approach to curriculum design and academic leadership.
• Must maintain current knowledge of industry standards and have established meaningful industry linkages.
• Must hold valid membership with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
• Must demonstrate a proven commitment to sustainability practices within academic or professional settings.

Zetech University offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience, benchmarked against the Kenyan university sector. The estimated monthly salary range for this role is KES 150,000 – KES 280,000.
