Solution Architect

Stratostaff is seeking a seasoned Solution Architect to join a dynamic technology team based in Nairobi. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing solution designs, technical specifications, and architectural reviews that directly support business objectives and long-term strategic outcomes. You will serve as the critical bridge between business needs and technology delivery, ensuring that enterprise solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with architectural standards.

This is a senior technical role that demands both deep engineering expertise and strong commercial awareness. You will guide cross-functional teams, evaluate emerging technologies, reduce technical debt, and champion architectural consistency across the organization — making a measurable impact on how technology enables business transformation.

• Design and develop end-to-end solution architectures, technical designs, and implementation strategies aligned to enterprise standards and business goals.
• Translate complex business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical solution designs that address current and future organizational needs.
• Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations on technology approaches, solution options, and architectural direction for strategic initiatives.
• Develop and maintain architecture artifacts, standards, methodologies, and solution repositories for enterprise-wide use.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops, requirements-gathering sessions, and business modelling exercises to identify capabilities and technology gaps.
• Align business capabilities, processes, and information requirements with technology investments and architecture roadmaps.
• Translate strategic business initiatives into technology-enabled change programs and project delivery plans.
• Drive Proof of Concept initiatives and technology assessments to evaluate and recommend emerging technologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve business processes and operational efficiency through technology modernization.
• Champion architecture standards, reusable components, and design patterns across teams and projects.
• Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the technology function.
• Minimize technical debt by enforcing sound architectural governance practices throughout the project lifecycle.

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise-grade technology solutions across multiple domains.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and present solution architectures at conceptual, logical, and physical levels to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven experience conducting requirements gathering and business analysis through stakeholder engagement, workshops, and process modelling.
• Ability to evaluate competing technology options and make commercially sound architectural recommendations under ambiguity.
• Experience working with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent.
• Track record of leading Proof of Concept evaluations and translating outcomes into actionable technology roadmaps.
• Competence in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), microservices, APIs, and integration patterns.
• Ability to define and enforce architecture governance standards, design patterns, and reusable component libraries.
• Strong documentation skills — able to produce clear architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and decision records.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Based on market benchmarks for senior technology professionals in Nairobi, this role is estimated to attract a monthly package in the range of KES 250,000 – KES 400,000.
