Subject Teacher – Chemistry

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated chemistry lessons aligned to CBC, KCSE, and IGCSE/Cambridge curriculum objectives.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluation strategies, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
• Prepare and support students for national and international examinations, including administering and invigilating tests.
• Develop, review, and enhance chemistry curriculum materials to ensure content remains relevant, rigorous, and effective.
• Maintain a well-organized, safe, and stimulating laboratory and classroom environment in line with health and safety standards.
• Analyze student performance data and implement targeted interventions to support learners who are struggling or need further challenge.
• Promote positive behavior, discipline, and a growth mindset both inside and outside the classroom.
• Organize and participate in co-curricular activities including science clubs, school trips, and inter-school competitions.
• Serve as a pastoral mentor, providing academic and personal guidance to assigned students.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events, actively contributing to institutional growth.
• Supervise and support student teachers, trainee educators, and short-term guest instructors when required.
• Collaborate effectively with mentors, career advisors, school counselors, and other education professionals.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in chemistry and pedagogy.
• Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by school management.

• Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a specialization in Chemistry (or Chemistry combined with a related science subject).
• Must demonstrate at least 5 years of classroom teaching experience, with a proven track record of preparing and delivering results for KCSE, IGCSE, Cambridge, or CBC candidate classes.
• Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and hold a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
• Must be able to design and execute learner-centered, competency-based lesson plans that cater to diverse learning abilities and styles.
• Must demonstrate ability to integrate educational technology tools — such as digital simulations, e-learning platforms, and interactive media — into chemistry instruction.
• Must show strong classroom management capabilities, maintaining order, safety, and a positive learning atmosphere at all times.
• Must be able to interpret student performance trends and use data to inform instructional decisions and learning support strategies.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, parents, and multidisciplinary school teams.
• Must be actively involved in co-curricular and extracurricular school activities.

The monthly salary for this role is estimated in the range of KES 40,000 – 70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is in line with Kenyan market rates for secondary school chemistry teachers with five or more years of experience across multiple curricula.
