Accommodation Operations Trainer

Uriri Technical and Vocational College (Uriri TVC) is seeking a dedicated and qualified Accommodation Operations Trainer to join its Hospitality department. Based in Migori County, this is a full-time position designed for a passionate training professional who is committed to developing competent, industry-ready learners in accommodation, housekeeping, and catering operations.

The successful candidate will deliver training under the CDACC (Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council) competency-based curriculum, guiding learners through both theoretical and practical aspects of hospitality operations. This role requires a trainer who can bridge real-world hospitality standards with structured TVET pedagogy to produce graduates who meet industry expectations.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging training sessions in Accommodation Operations, Housekeeping, and related hospitality units in line with the CDACC curriculum.
• Develop and maintain professional training documents including schemes of work, lesson plans, and session notes.
• Design and implement robust assessment tools for both formative and summative assessments of trainees.
• Evaluate trainee competencies and provide timely, constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
• Supervise and guide trainees through individual and group projects, ensuring alignment with curriculum outcomes.
• Conduct applied research activities under the guidance of senior trainers to contribute to institutional knowledge.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum review processes, and institutional activities as required.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal in support of the College's training mandate.

• Demonstrate practical knowledge of accommodation operations, housekeeping procedures, and catering service standards sufficient to train certificate or diploma-level learners.
• Apply sound pedagogical principles to design and facilitate effective competency-based training sessions in a TVET environment.
• Develop assessment instruments that accurately measure learner competencies against CDACC standards.
• Maintain accurate trainee records and produce timely assessment reports in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with learners, colleagues, and institutional stakeholders.
• Demonstrate registration with TVETA as a recognized trainer, ensuring compliance with national TVET regulatory standards.
• Utilize prior TVET institution training experience (where applicable) to mentor and coach learners effectively.

Salary is open and will be discussed during the recruitment process, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position with the standard benefits applicable to staff at a recognized Kenyan TVET institution.

This role is ideal for a hospitality professional with a diploma or higher qualification in Catering and Accommodation, Housekeeping Operations, or a closely related field, who also holds a recognized pedagogy qualification and is registered with TVETA. Candidates with prior training experience in a TVET institution will have a distinct advantage and are strongly encouraged to apply.

This role is NOT suitable for candidates who do not hold a pedagogy qualification, are not registered or eligible for registration with TVETA, or who have no background in accommodation, catering, or hospitality operations. Candidates seeking part-time or temporary engagements should also not apply, as this is a permanent full-time position.
