Assistant General Manager – Mara Triangle

An exciting leadership opportunity has opened up at a prestigious safari lodge situated in the heart of the Mara Triangle, one of Kenya's most iconic wildlife conservation areas. We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Assistant General Manager to support the day-to-day running of full lodge operations in this remote yet breathtaking environment.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on hospitality professional who thrives in dynamic, remote settings. You will work closely with the General Manager to strengthen departmental leadership, refine operational systems, and build a high-performance team culture — all while ensuring every guest enjoys a world-class safari experience.

• Oversee and support all operational departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, and Guides to ensure seamless daily performance.
• Personally host guests and maintain direct oversight of service delivery to guarantee consistently exceptional experiences.
• Mentor, coach, and hold departmental Heads accountable for professional standards, communication, and results.
• Assist the General Manager in streamlining operational logistics, procurement processes, stock control, and cost management initiatives.
• Assume full oversight of lodge operations and staff discipline in the General Manager's absence.
• Collaborate actively on operational planning, budget preparation, performance reporting, and strategic reviews.
• Identify operational gaps and implement corrective measures to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Uphold and reinforce the lodge's brand standards, values, and conservation ethos across all departments.

• Must demonstrate proven experience managing lodge or hospitality operations end-to-end, including multi-department coordination.
• Must be able to lead, develop, and performance-manage teams of 20 or more staff in a remote or bush environment.
• Must have hands-on experience in guest relations — able to read guest needs, resolve complaints diplomatically, and elevate the overall experience.
• Must be able to manage procurement cycles, stock control systems, and lodge logistics with minimal supervision.
• Must demonstrate strong financial acumen — capable of contributing meaningfully to budgeting, cost control, and operational reporting.
• Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with staff, management, guests, and external stakeholders.
• Prior experience in safari lodges or remote wilderness hospitality environments is highly preferred and will be a strong differentiator.
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field is required.

The salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience within the luxury safari hospitality sector. While the exact figure has not been publicly disclosed, market benchmarks for a senior lodge management role of this nature in Kenya typically range from KES 250,000 to KES 400,000 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
