Data Analyst – Refugee Resettlement Programs

Church World Service (CWS) is seeking a skilled and mission-driven Data Analyst to join its Resettlement Support Center (RSC) Africa team in Nairobi. This is a full-time national position that plays a critical role in supporting the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) by ensuring the timely, accurate preparation of statistical and operational reports that guide resettlement decision-making across sub-Saharan Africa.

Working under the Data Analytics & Visualization Supervisor, the Data Analyst will help CWS RSC Africa tell the story of refugee resettlement through compelling data visualizations and rigorous reporting — enabling staff, donors, and implementing partners to understand complex processing trends and make evidence-based decisions.

• Prepare routine and ad hoc statistical reports for CWS RSC Africa staff and implementing partners including the US Embassy Refugee Coordinator, IOM, and Resettlement Agencies.
• Collaborate with the START and Case Quality teams to develop and automate quality control reports that ensure data integrity and identify training gaps.
• Design and maintain productivity tracking reports to support overall operational efficiency improvements across RSC Africa.
• Work closely with the IT team to ensure all reports are running in current software environments and are published in user-friendly formats.
• Update automated and ad hoc reports in response to START database schema changes or policy and program updates.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of START system updates and RSC Africa Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct quality checks on individual cases in coordination with the START and Case Quality team to ensure compliance with RSC and Refugee Processing Center (RPC) standards.
• Support Programs staff by developing adequate reporting tools that help departments meet RSC quality standards and adhere to USRAP processing guidelines.
• Build and maintain data visualization dashboards that communicate resettlement processing performance to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify data anomalies and recommend corrective actions to improve data quality and reporting accuracy.

• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field.
• Must demonstrate at least 5 years of hands-on experience producing statistical and operational reports in a data analyst or similar role.
• Must be proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) and be able to translate raw data into clear, actionable visual narratives.
• Must show proven ability to write and automate queries using SQL or similar database query languages in a live operational environment.
• Must demonstrate experience working with case management or program databases — experience with START or similar refugee/humanitarian systems is a strong advantage.
• Must be capable of managing multiple concurrent reporting tasks with strict attention to detail and tight turnaround timelines.
• Must be able to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical audiences including program officers, NGO partners, and government liaisons.
• Must demonstrate familiarity with compliance and quality control processes within a humanitarian or development organization context.
• Experience working with USRAP, UNHCR, IOM, or resettlement support programs is highly desirable.

Church World Service offers competitive compensation aligned with INGO sector standards in Kenya. For a mid-to-senior analyst role of this nature, the estimated monthly gross salary ranges between KES 150,000 and KES 250,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
