Information Management Consultant

UNICEF Kenya is seeking a highly experienced Information Management Consultant to strengthen data systems, analytics, and reporting within its programmes. Based in Bomet, this full-time consultancy role sits at the intersection of data science, monitoring and evaluation, and development programming — playing a critical role in ensuring that high-quality, integrated data drives evidence-based decision-making across UNICEF's child-focused interventions.

The consultant will work closely with programme teams, partners, and government counterparts to consolidate data flows, enhance information systems, and build local capacity in data management. • Lead data consolidation and management across multiple programme, financial, and partner datasets, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Design and implement data quality frameworks, including cleaning protocols, validation routines, and harmonisation standards.
• Develop and maintain information systems and databases that support programme monitoring and results tracking.
• Conduct advanced data analysis and produce visualisations, dashboards, and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms.
• Perform cross-sectoral analysis linking programme results, population reach, and financial expenditure data.
• Support data reporting cycles and ensure timely, accurate submission of data to internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage with government counterparts, implementing partners, and internal UNICEF teams to align data collection and reporting processes.
• Build staff and partner capacity through training, mentorship, and the development of knowledge management tools and SOPs.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of data structures and protocols for large, complex datasets.

• Must hold an advanced university degree (Master's level) in Data Science, Statistics, Information Management, Computer Science, Economics, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related social science or development studies field.
• Must demonstrate at least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in information management, data analytics, or monitoring and evaluation roles.
• Must be able to independently design and implement data integration systems that draw from multiple heterogeneous sources including programme, financial, and partner data.
• Must be proficient in building interactive dashboards and visual analytics products using Power BI, Tableau, or comparable tools.
• Must be capable of conducting rigorous cross-sectoral data analysis, including linking results frameworks with financial and population data.
• Must have proven ability to manage, clean, and harmonise large and complex datasets with strong attention to data governance and documentation.
• Must communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences including senior management and government partners.
• Prior experience with UN agencies or UNICEF and familiarity with Results-Based Management (RBM) frameworks and tools such as RAM and eTools is highly desirable.
• Must be fluent in English; strong written communication skills are essential.

UNICEF consultancy rates are competitive and benchmarked against UN system standards. For a senior-level specialist with 8+ years of experience in data management and analytics within an international development context, estimated monthly compensation falls in the range of KES 350,000 – 600,000, subject to qualifications, negotiation, and UNICEF's internal consultancy pay scales. Specific remuneration details will be communicated during the selection process.
