Electrical Foreman

Reeds Africa Consult is recruiting an experienced Electrical Foreman on behalf of a client in the construction sector based in Kiambu. This is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for overseeing all electrical works on an active construction site — from internal wiring and distribution boards to external reticulation and pre-commissioning testing.

The successful candidate will serve as the technical lead for a team of electricians, helpers, and subcontractors, ensuring every installation meets approved drawings, project specifications, quality benchmarks, and safety standards. Strong coordination with civil, plumbing, and finishing teams is essential to keep the project on schedule.

• Supervise all internal and external electrical installations including wiring, distribution boards, lighting systems, power outlets, and earthing systems across all floors.
• Plan and coordinate daily tasks for electricians, helpers, and subcontractors to ensure work progresses as per the project schedule.
• Liaise with other site foremen, engineers, and contractors to proactively resolve clashes with civil, plumbing, and finishing works.
• Verify that all required materials, tools, and equipment are available, functional, and on-site before work commences each day.
• Ensure all electrical installations strictly comply with approved construction drawings and project specifications.
• Confirm that power supply is correctly installed and connected to all relevant distribution boards and points throughout the building.
• Oversee electrical reticulation works including main supply connections, sub-circuit distribution, and cable routing.
• Map out and assign lighting points, power outlets, appliance circuits, and dedicated lines for equipment such as water pumps.
• Conduct pre-commissioning tests using insulation resistance testers, earth loop impedance testers, and continuity testers before energization.
• Inspect and verify that all cables are properly routed, secured, and protected in conduits or trunking as per specification.
• Maintain accurate site records, daily progress reports, and electrical inspection logs for sign-off by the site engineer.

• Ability to read, interpret, and work directly from electrical engineering drawings and project specifications on site.
• Demonstrated experience supervising a team of electricians and subcontractors across residential or commercial construction projects.
• Competency in performing and interpreting pre-commissioning tests including insulation resistance, earth loop impedance, and continuity checks.
• Proven track record of coordinating electrical works with multi-trade site teams to avoid service conflicts and maintain schedule.
• Working knowledge of cable management systems, conduit installation, trunking, and distribution board configuration.
• Ability to identify and resolve on-site electrical faults promptly while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Strong verbal communication skills to brief teams, liaise with engineers, and escalate issues to project management.
• Familiarity with EPRA licensing requirements and NCA contractor registration regulations in Kenya.

The salary for this position is competitive and aligned with market rates for experienced Electrical Foremen in Kiambu-based construction projects, estimated at KES 80,000 – 120,000 per month depending on experience and qualifications. Specific compensation details will be confirmed during the interview process by the hiring client.

This role is ideal for a qualified electrician who has progressed into a supervisory role and is comfortable taking full ownership of electrical works on a busy construction site. You should hold a valid EPRA Class C License or higher and have NCA accreditation. You thrive in a fast-paced site environment, manage your team proactively, and take pride in zero-defect installations.
