Solar Design & Proposal Technician

Safer Power Limited, a fully registered and licensed EPC contractor under the Safer Power Group, is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Solar Design & Proposal Technician to join its growing technical team in Nairobi. The company specialises in solar, power, and energy projects, medium-to-large HVAC installations, and biosafety laboratory EPC works — including BSL 2, 2+, and 3 laboratories across Kenya. Safer Power is also a licensed panel builder by Schneider Electric, operating an in-house switchboard assembly workshop.

In this role, you will be at the core of the company's renewable energy business — turning site data and client requirements into compelling, technically sound solar PV proposals and system designs. You will work across off-grid, hybrid, and grid-tied systems, collaborating closely with sales, procurement, and installation teams to deliver projects on time and to specification.

• Design and size Solar PV systems across off-grid, hybrid, and grid-tied configurations based on client load data and site conditions.
• Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals tailored to client needs, including system specifications, costings, and ROI projections.
• Conduct site surveys and gather field data to inform accurate design parameters and equipment selection.
• Generate system drawings, layouts, and single-line diagrams using AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar design software.
• Support the technical team during project implementation, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Ensure all designs comply with Kenyan electrical standards, EPRA regulations, and company quality procedures.
• Coordinate with sales, procurement, and installation departments to ensure seamless and timely project execution.
• Maintain organised records of proposals, drawings, and technical documentation for each project.

• Ability to independently design and size Solar PV systems (off-grid, hybrid, grid-tied) using recognised industry software such as PVsyst or AutoCAD.
• Demonstrated experience preparing professional technical and commercial proposals that win client confidence.
• Competency in conducting site surveys and translating field observations into actionable design inputs.
• Strong working knowledge of solar system components — panels, inverters, batteries, charge controllers, and BOS equipment.
• Ability to produce clear single-line diagrams, system layouts, and electrical drawings to a professional standard.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for client-facing proposal writing and internal team coordination.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in solar PV design, proposal development, or a closely related technical role.
• Diploma or Certificate in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Safer Power Ltd offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, estimated in the range of KES 60,000 – 100,000 per month for a qualified candidate at this level.
