Lecturer – Historical & Theological Studies

The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) is a Seventh-day Adventist institution of higher learning located in Nandi County, Kenya. The successful candidate will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, driving academic excellence while embodying the Adventist mission of integrating faith with learning. • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Old Testament Studies, Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related theological disciplines.
• Develop comprehensive course materials, syllabi, and instructional resources aligned with current academic standards.
• Conduct original scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals and academic outlets.
• Participate actively in curriculum development, review, and quality assurance processes.
• Set, administer, moderate, and mark coursework and examinations in a timely and fair manner.
• Supervise students' research projects, dissertations, and theses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Provide academic advising, student mentorship, and spiritual nurture support to enrolled students.
• Engage in departmental, School, and University-wide committee work and governance activities.
• Participate in community service initiatives and church-related outreach programmes in alignment with the University's mission.
• Support the strategic objectives of the Department of Theology and the broader University.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Head of Department or University Management.

• Must hold an earned PhD in Old Testament Studies, Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field from a recognised university.
• Must demonstrate at least four (4) years of teaching experience at tertiary or university level, with evidence of student impact.
• Must have a Master's degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant theological field.
• Must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Must present a portfolio of scholarly research outputs, publications, or conference presentations in relevant academic fields.
• Must be able to integrate faith and academic learning in line with Seventh-day Adventist higher education philosophy.
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills suitable for diverse student populations.
• Must be proficient in e-learning platforms, Microsoft Office tools, and relevant academic software; proficiency in statistical software is an added advantage.
• Must hold KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent minimum qualification.
• Must meet UEAB's institutional requirements for appointment to the rank of Lecturer.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional or theological body is advantageous.
• Ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister status is a distinct added advantage.

UEAB offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with academic qualifications and experience, benchmarked against Kenyan university lecturer salary scales. Estimated monthly gross salary ranges between KES 100,000 and KES 180,000, subject to qualifications and the University's internal grading structure.
