Market Specialist – Eastleigh

Kuwa Pay is a fast-growing cross-border payment company specializing in helping East African SMEs, importers, and traders make safe, compliant, and efficient payments to China — in both RMB and USD. As we deepen our footprint in the Eastleigh business community, we are opening a dedicated outlet at BBS Mall and are looking for a sharp, well-connected Market Specialist to lead our ground presence in one of Nairobi's most dynamic trading hubs.

This is a field-first, community-driven role. We are not looking for someone who will sit behind a desk — we need a trusted insider who understands the pulse of Eastleigh's import trade, speaks the language of its merchants, and can mobilize networks to drive meaningful business growth. If you are deeply embedded in the Eastleigh ecosystem and know how to get things done on the ground, this role was built for you.

• Design, plan, and execute local market promotion activities across BBS Mall and the broader ECD trading corridor in Eastleigh.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and day-to-day manage a team of community-embedded field promoters to extend Kuwa Pay's reach.
• Map and prioritize high-potential merchant segments, trading areas, and importer clusters within Eastleigh's wholesale and retail networks.
• Drive customer education initiatives around cross-border payments to China, product onboarding, and basic platform usage.
• Serve as the primary relationship manager between Kuwa Pay and key Eastleigh merchant groups, building long-term trust and loyalty.
• Gather frontline market intelligence — including competitor activity, merchant pain points, and demand trends — and relay structured insights to management.
• Support compliance awareness among merchants, including basic Anti-Money Laundering (AML) principles relevant to cross-border transactions.
• Represent Kuwa Pay at local trade events, market gatherings, and community touchpoints to strengthen brand presence.

• Demonstrate 5–10 years of hands-on experience operating within, or in direct service of, the Eastleigh or broader Nairobi import trading community.
• Navigate BBS Mall, the ECD market, and surrounding wholesale networks with confidence — you know the terrain, the players, and the rhythms of trade.
• Leverage a strong, trusted personal network among Eastleigh traders, wholesalers, and merchants to generate rapid business traction.
• Communicate fluently in Somali and English; the ability to conduct business in Swahili is a clear advantage.
• Recruit, coordinate, and hold accountable a team of field promoters, setting clear targets and providing practical guidance.
• Translate cultural nuances of the Eastleigh merchant community into effective outreach and engagement strategies.
• Apply knowledge of AML compliance principles — or demonstrate a willingness to learn — to ensure all merchant interactions meet regulatory standards.
• Thrive in demanding fieldwork conditions, maintaining reliability, professionalism, and energy across a busy trading environment.
• Document and report market feedback in a clear, actionable format for management review.

Kuwa Pay offers a competitive monthly compensation package benchmarked to the Eastleigh market specialist role, estimated in the range of KES 80,000 – 150,000 per month depending on experience and demonstrated network strength. The role also carries performance-based incentives tied to merchant acquisition and activation targets. Specific benefits will be discussed during the interview process.

Ideal candidate: You have spent years doing business in or around Eastleigh. Traders know your name, you understand the import cycle from China, and you can walk into BBS Mall and open doors within minutes. You are organized enough to run a small team, humble enough to do fieldwork, and sharp enough to represent a fintech brand credibly. Academic qualifications are not a barrier — your community roots and track record matter far more.
