Network Infrastructure Engineer

Green Com Enterprise Solutions is looking for a talented and experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to join its growing ICT team. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for the end-to-end deployment, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of the company's server infrastructure, virtual environments, network security solutions, and ICT hardware assets.

• Deploy, configure, maintain, and optimize Windows and Linux server environments to ensure high availability and performance.
• Create, manage, and monitor virtual machines using Hyper-V, VMware, or Proxmox virtualization platforms.
• Perform regular server patching, updates, backups, disaster recovery testing, and capacity planning exercises.
• Monitor server performance, availability, and overall infrastructure health using appropriate tools and dashboards.
• Install, configure, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Support and administer LAN, WAN, VPN, and remote access services across the organization.
• Configure and maintain firewall rule sets, VPN solutions, and network security controls to protect organizational assets.
• Monitor security events, investigate alerts, and respond to infrastructure-related incidents promptly.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement security hardening and best practices across all infrastructure layers.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, storage systems, desktops, laptops, and related ICT equipment.
• Manage ICT asset inventories and oversee hardware lifecycle processes from procurement to disposal.
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide second-level and third-level technical support for infrastructure-related issues escalated from support teams.
• Participate in infrastructure modernization projects, cloud adoption strategies, and cybersecurity improvement initiatives.

• Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Manage Linux-based servers (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Rocky Linux, or CentOS) in production environments.
• Deploy and maintain virtual machines and hypervisor environments using Hyper-V, VMware, or Proxmox.
• Configure and manage TCP/IP networking, VLANs, routing protocols, and switching infrastructure.
• Administer firewalls (Fortinet preferred) and VPN solutions, writing and maintaining access control rule sets.
• Apply cybersecurity principles including access control management, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
• Manage server and storage hardware, including troubleshooting hardware faults and coordinating vendor support.
• Work with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud for hybrid infrastructure scenarios.
• Write automation and management scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to streamline repetitive tasks.
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Bring a minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in systems administration, network administration, or infrastructure engineering.
• Possess or be working towards certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, RHCSA, LPIC-1, or Fortinet Certified Associate (FCA).

Green Com Enterprise Solutions offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications. Based on Kenyan market benchmarks for mid-level infrastructure engineering roles with a minimum of three years' experience, the estimated monthly gross salary range is KES 100,000 – 180,000. Specific compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.

This role is ideal for a proactive infrastructure engineer with at least three years of real-world experience managing server, network, and security environments. You are comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You take pride in clean documentation and enjoy contributing to infrastructure improvement projects beyond day-to-day operations.
