Network Infrastructure Engineer

Green Com Enterprise Solutions Ltd, a Microsoft Certified Business Solutions Partner based in Nairobi, is looking for a skilled and motivated Network Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen its ICT team. This is a mid-level, full-time, onsite role ideal for a technically grounded professional who thrives in dynamic enterprise environments and is passionate about keeping critical systems secure, available, and performing at their best.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the deployment, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of server infrastructure, virtual environments, network security solutions, and ICT hardware. You will work across both Windows and Linux platforms, manage virtualized workloads, administer network devices, and contribute to ongoing cybersecurity and cloud modernization initiatives.

• Deploy, configure, maintain, and optimize Windows and Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Rocky Linux, CentOS) server environments.
• Create, manage, and monitor virtual machines using Hyper-V, VMware, or Proxmox.
• Perform server patching, updates, backups, disaster recovery testing, and capacity planning to ensure business continuity.
• Monitor server performance, system availability, and overall infrastructure health using appropriate tools.
• Install, configure, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
• Support and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VPN, and remote access services across the organization.
• Configure and enforce firewall rules, VPN solutions, and network security controls.
• Monitor security events, investigate alerts, and respond to infrastructure-related incidents in a timely manner.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement security best practices to protect enterprise assets.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, storage systems, desktops, laptops, and peripheral ICT equipment.
• Manage ICT asset inventories and oversee hardware lifecycle processes from procurement to disposal.
• Prepare and maintain up-to-date technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide second-level and third-level technical support for infrastructure-related issues escalated from the helpdesk.
• Participate actively in infrastructure modernization, cloud adoption, and cybersecurity improvement projects.

• Administer and harden Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, IIS).
• Manage Linux servers confidently across distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Rocky Linux, or CentOS.
• Build and manage virtual environments using Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, or Proxmox VE.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, MikroTik, or equivalent).
• Implement and maintain VPN solutions and enforce network segmentation best practices.
• Execute backup and disaster recovery plans and validate restoration procedures regularly.
• Conduct vulnerability scans and translate findings into actionable remediation steps.
• Document infrastructure accurately — diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs must be clear and current.
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• Bring a minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in systems administration, network administration, or infrastructure engineering.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, or VMware VCP are a strong advantage.

Green Com Enterprise Solutions Ltd has not publicly disclosed a specific salary figure for this role. Based on Kenyan market benchmarks for mid-level network and infrastructure engineers in Nairobi, the estimated monthly compensation range is KES 100,000 – 180,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical competency. Final offer will be determined during the interview and negotiation process.

This role is a strong fit for a hands-on infrastructure professional with at least three years of real-world experience managing enterprise servers, networks, and security controls.
