Part-Time TVET Trainer – Community Health & Development

Amref International University (AMIU), through its TVET Directorate, is seeking a qualified and passionate Part-Time TVET Trainer in Community Health and Development. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of educators committed to building competent community health practitioners through quality, competency-based training aligned to national occupational standards.

The trainer will be responsible for delivering instruction, conducting assessments, supervising industrial attachments, and preparing students for both internal and external examinations.

• Deliver instruction in assigned Community Health and Development course units in strict adherence to TVET curricula and occupational standards
• Plan, conduct, and assess practical sessions for all assigned course units
• Develop comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and lecture notes in advance of each teaching period
• Prepare internal examination papers, conduct validation exercises, and adhere to the examination preparation and processing schedule
• Carry out continuous assessments and maintain accurate, up-to-date student performance records
• Mark, grade, and accurately enter results into the university's ERP system for all assigned units
• Supervise and assess trainees during industrial attachment placements
• Equip trainees with practical technical skills required for effective competency acquisition ahead of external examinations
• Maintain appropriate academic and administrative records as required by the TVET Directorate, TVET CDACC, or any other relevant regulatory body
• Attend all assigned class contact hours punctually and consistently
• Mentor and guide students academically and professionally throughout their training
• Invigilate both internal and external examinations as scheduled
• Monitor and maintain accurate class attendance registers
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or TVET Director

• Demonstrate ability to deliver competency-based education and training (CBET) in a TVET environment
• Apply knowledge of community health principles and development frameworks to practical training contexts
• Design and implement effective lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessment tools aligned to TVET CDACC standards
• Use institutional ERP systems to manage student grades and academic records accurately
• Supervise students in industrial and clinical attachment settings with a structured mentorship approach
• Communicate complex health concepts clearly and accessibly to diverse student cohorts
• Hold a Bachelor of Science in Community Health and Development from a recognised institution
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of teaching or training experience within a TVET institution
• Hold a Certificate in Pedagogy or be duly registered as a trainer by TVETA
• At least 2 years of relevant industry experience in community health practice is a distinct added advantage

This is a part-time engagement and remuneration will be structured on a per-session or hourly rate basis, in line with AMIU's TVET part-time trainer scales. Estimated equivalent monthly earnings range from KES 50,000 to KES 100,000 depending on units assigned and hours of engagement.
