This role sits at the intersection of automotive engineering expertise and adult education, requiring the successful candidate to translate complex technical knowledge into practical, impactful training experiences for a diverse audience — from frontline mechanics to fleet owners and dealership staff.

The Technical Trainer will play a pivotal role in upskilling Simba Corp's service teams across branches and dealer networks, with a growing emphasis on Electric Vehicle (EV) technology for both passenger cars and pick-ups. If you thrive in a fast-paced automotive environment and are passionate about developing technical talent, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and conduct product and technical training programs for Service, Sales, and Parts departments as required.
  • Execute yearly planned technical training activities in line with the approved training calendar.
  • Deliver driver training sessions as and when required across the business.
  • Facilitate training at branch and dealer levels upon request, ensuring consistent standards across the network.
  • Provide both on-site and remote technical support to all Simba Corporation branches, workshops, and dealers to resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Plan and deliver structured training for Service Advisors, Mechanics, and Diagnostic Technicians to enhance their competencies.
  • Design and deliver tailored technical training sessions for fleet owners and customers based on specific requests.
  • Prepare and conduct training courses on EV Passenger Cars and Pick-ups for both Simba Corp and customer teams, staying current with evolving EV technologies.
  • Conduct hands-on practical training for all service teams across the full range of Simba products.
  • Support the HR and technical departments in the recruitment process for technical trainees.
  • Prepare, conduct, and supervise all technical trainee program activities from recruitment through to graduation.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Must demonstrate at least 5 years of hands-on experience working in a busy automotive workshop environment, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Must hold a Diploma in Automotive Engineering and be able to apply that knowledge practically in training contexts.
  • Must have completed or be able to demonstrate Pedagogical Training, and be capable of designing structured lesson plans and training curricula for mixed-ability audiences.
  • Must be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and simply — both verbally and in written form — to mechanics, advisors, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be proficient in computer applications including MS Office and be comfortable delivering remote training using digital tools.
  • Must demonstrate strong organisational skills and be able to manage multiple training schedules across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Must be able to supervise and mentor technical trainees through structured development programs.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to rapidly upskill in EV technology is strongly preferred.
Salary & Benefits

Simba Corporation offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications. The estimated monthly salary for this role ranges between KES 100,000 and KES 180,000, benchmarked against mid-level technical roles in Kenya's automotive sector. Who Should Apply

Ideal candidate: A seasoned automotive technician who has transitioned into or is eager to grow into a training and development capacity. You are organised, articulate, patient with learners, and deeply knowledgeable about automotive systems — including emerging EV technologies. You are comfortable working across Nairobi and upcountry branches and can adapt your training style to both technical experts and first-time trainees.

Do NOT apply if: You have fewer than 5 years of practical workshop experience, lack formal pedagogical or training qualifications, are uncomfortable with travel to branch and dealer locations, or are not open to continuous learning in EV technology.

Application Tips

  • Highlight specific examples of training programs you've designed or delivered — include metrics like number of trainees, topics covered, and measurable skill improvements or certification outcomes.
