Farm Manager

Sayen Supermarket is seeking a results-driven and experienced Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its agricultural unit. This is a hands-on leadership role that sits at the intersection of agribusiness and retail supply chain, ensuring the farm consistently delivers quality produce to meet the supermarket's operational demands.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all farm activities — from crop and/or livestock production through to harvesting, record-keeping, and resource allocation. You will play a critical role in driving farm productivity, maintaining quality standards, and optimising costs while leading a dedicated team of farm workers.

• Plan, organise, and oversee all crop and/or livestock production activities from planting/rearing through to harvest or processing.
• Develop and implement seasonal farm work plans, ensuring timely execution of all agricultural activities.
• Manage farm budgets, control expenditure, and maintain accurate financial and production records.
• Supervise, train, and motivate farm workers to achieve set production targets and maintain safety standards.
• Monitor soil health, irrigation systems, pest and disease management, and implement corrective measures promptly.
• Manage inventory of farm inputs including seeds, fertilisers, feeds, and equipment, ensuring efficient utilisation.
• Coordinate with the supermarket's procurement and supply chain team to align farm output with store demand.
• Maintain detailed records of farm activities, yields, costs, and compliance with agricultural regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve farm efficiency, productivity, and sustainability through best practices and innovation.
• Ensure proper maintenance of farm equipment, infrastructure, and facilities.

• Must hold a Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Farm Management, or a closely related field.
• Must demonstrate at least 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing farm operations, including supervising teams and managing budgets.
• Must be able to apply comprehensive knowledge of crop production, livestock management, or both in a practical farm setting.
• Must be capable of developing and managing farm budgets, conducting inventory audits, and optimising resource use to minimise waste.
• Must demonstrate the ability to lead, appraise, and develop farm staff to consistently meet productivity targets.
• Must maintain accurate, up-to-date farm records using manual and digital systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and experience with farm management software is an added advantage.
• Must be able to diagnose agronomic, operational, or personnel challenges quickly and implement effective solutions with minimal supervision.
• Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively between the farm team and supermarket management.

The salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, estimated in the range of KES 80,000 – 150,000 per month based on Kenyan agribusiness market benchmarks for mid-to-senior farm management roles.
