School Driver

Nova Pioneer Education Group is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and professional School Driver to join its transport team in Nairobi. As a key member of the school community, you will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of students between their homes and the school campus, as well as to extracurricular activities, educational trips, and emergency medical facilities when required.

Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, you will also be accountable for the day-to-day mechanical upkeep, cleanliness, and roadworthiness of your assigned school vehicle. This is a full-time, on-site role that demands punctuality, composure under pressure, and a genuine commitment to child safety and welfare.

• Operate the school vehicle safely and efficiently in full compliance with Kenyan traffic legislation, Nova Pioneer transport policies, and all relevant road regulations.
• Enforce the school's door-to-door pick-up and drop-off policy for all students on your assigned route.
• Follow approved route schedules consistently and report any deviations, delays, or road incidents to the Transport Manager promptly.
• Collaborate with the designated bus assistant to maintain order, discipline, and passenger safety throughout every journey.
• Conduct daily pre-trip checks covering tyres, engine oil, radiator coolant, lights, and general vehicle condition — documenting any defects immediately.
• Record actual mileage, departure times, and destinations in the vehicle movement logbook before commencing each trip.
• Adhere strictly to all speed limits, traffic signs, and road markings at all times.
• Fuel the assigned vehicle according to the school's fueling schedule and maintain accurate fuel records.
• Transport students to educational trips, sports events, hospital emergencies, and other school-sanctioned activities safely.
• Ensure the assigned vehicle is clean, secure, and safely parked — both on campus and off-site during trips.
• Confirm all students on the assigned route are on board before commencing any journey.
• Educate passengers on their responsibilities and the rules of conduct while on board the school vehicle.
• Follow the school's Emergency Policy in the event of any accident or incident, and notify the Transport Manager immediately.
• Ensure all national and county legal requirements — including valid driving licences, PSV badges, vehicle inspection certificates, and route permits — are current and up to date.
• Run school-related errands and transport staff members as directed by management.

• Must hold a valid Kenyan driving licence with a clean driving record and at least 2 years of verifiable professional driving experience — preferably in a school, institution, or fleet environment.
• Must demonstrate the ability to navigate Nairobi routes efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to traffic laws and speed limits.
• Must be able to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (tyres, oil, water, lights) and identify mechanical faults before they escalate.
• Must maintain accurate and legible records in vehicle movement logs and incident reports without supervision.
• Must demonstrate calm, responsible decision-making in emergency or high-pressure situations involving children.
• Must be able to enforce passenger discipline and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, parents, and school staff.
• Must hold a valid PSV (Public Service Vehicle) licence/badge as required under Kenyan law for student transportation.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late evenings, in line with the school's transport schedule.

Nova Pioneer offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications. The estimated monthly salary for this role falls within the range of KES 25,000 – KES 45,000, in line with Kenyan market rates for school drivers with similar experience. Ideal candidates are disciplined, punctual, and deeply committed to child safety. You have at least 2 years of professional driving experience, hold a valid PSV licence, and are comfortable working within a structured institutional environment that values accountability and integrity. You communicate well, follow instructions diligently, and take pride in maintaining a clean, safe vehicle.
